Director, Compensation

Our client is seeking a Director, Compensation to lead compensation initiatives and programs while working in partnership with the HR team to design and deliver reward solutions that align with the company’s business needs. In this role, you will be a subject matter expert on the HR team, advising senior leaders and delivering pay programs and solutions. You will report to the Head of Human Resources and join a team of six human resource professionals, directly managing the Senior HR Systems Analyst and the Senior Payroll and Benefits Manager.

 

This is a hybrid-work opportunity with an in-office schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and a remote schedule of Monday and Friday.

Responsibilities

  • * Direct the company’s compensation programs, policies, and processes, including job evaluation, market analysis, salary grade and range review, base salary adjustments, incentive and other variable comp plans, job title alignment, and related budget development.
  • * Complete hands-on competitive market data benchmarking, including base and incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives, and investment and executive team compensation.
  • * Deliver strong analytical advice on internal compensation matters, market data, salary surveys, and compensation practices.
  • * Lead end-of-year salary, bonus, and incentive pay review in coordination with performance-management cycles.
  • * Partner with the Head of HR on executive compensation planning and assist in the preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • * Partner with Talent Management to prepare components of offer packages for new hires and assist with talent-planning budgets.
  • * Oversee all payroll operations.
  • * Oversee, produce, and distribute tax and share statements and communications (K1s, tax distribution, share program statements, etc.).
  • * Leverage technology to streamline the compensation process and ensure data integrity, including the evaluation of current HRIS / Payroll system and HR tools (TalentComp, Paycor, MarketPay).
  • * Stay current on industry compensation and changing legal issues, assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business as appropriate.
  • * Develop comprehensive financial reviews, analyses, and evaluations of incentive programs.
  • * Assist team with company-wide surveys via Qualtrics for engagement and feedback.

Requirements

  • * Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Human Resources, Management or other related discipline. CCP / CBP certification is preferred.
  • * 8 to 10+ years of experience in developing compensation plans. Financial services industry experience is required.
  • * Exceptional project management skills.
  • * Strong technical skills and familiarity with market data surveys, compensation planning software, and HRIS integration.
  • * Prior team leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing team.
  • * Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel (to run pivot tables) and other data analytics.
  • * Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including cost analysis, modeling, and budget forecasting.
  • * A strategic and creative thinker with effective problem-solving skills.
  • * Results-driven team leader who is detail oriented, highly energetic, and can effectively collaborate and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • * Experience with coaching leadership on compensation structure methodology and philosophy.
  • * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • * Strong understanding of all compliance and reporting requirements relating to compensation and payroll, including familiarity with federal, state, and local employment / labor laws and regulations.
